Wheel Alignment and Balance
What Is a Wheel Alignment?
Deterioration of a vehicles wheel alignment can occur rapidly. Wheel alignment refers to the measurement, analysis and adjustment of a vehicles steering suspension angles to ensure the wheels are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground.
When Do I Need a Wheel Alignment?
There are numerous causes of misalignment, for example:
Impact with a pot-hole or kerb
A change in suspension height caused by sagging springs
Worn or loose suspension components
Excessive load carrying
These causes can then lead to signs such as a slight pulling within the steering or squealing of the tyres when you turn a corner. If you think your vehicle needs a wheel alignment George’s Auto Prestige are able to calibrate your wheels using our quality wheel alignment machines to successfully address the problem.
What Is a Wheel Balance?
When a tyre is out of balance it means that one section of the tyre is heavier than the others, which shortens the life of your tyres and affects your vehicles performance and safety. A wheel balance ensures that the weight of your wheels is evenly distributed.
To do this, one of our trained mechanics will mount the wheel on our balancing machine to diagnose whether or not the weight of the wheel is out of balance. If the wheel is out of balance, the machine will locate the heavier part, which will then be compensated for by adding small weights to evenly distribute the weight. This will give you a smooth and consistent rotation of the tyre.
